Established in 2008 City Prom was the first stand alone prom dress shop in Cardiff. This October half term, we are hosting the Mori Lee prom dress trunk show. Read on to learn more about the launch of prom 2023 and the fabulous Mori Lee prom collection.

During half term (English October 25-30th, Wales October 31-6 November) we launch the Mori Lee 2023 prom dress collection. Over thirty sample prom dresses, not yet available in store will be available. These styles can be ordered in sizes 00-26. It’s the perfect time to start your search for your dream dress. What is a trunk show

At City Prom, we only stock dresses from a small selection of designers. We choose the designers that best fit our customers, as well as being sure to only use brands that can deliver on timescales, quality and produce a fabulous new collection year on year.

When doing our annual buying with our designers, we view the full collection which may include dresses at a higher price point, those that are a bit more daring, or styles that we love but are just not as popular with our customers. What we order and bring into the store, is what sells well to Cardiff and South Wales customers. Dresses that suit our customers taste and price point.

However, there are many styles we decided to leave behind when we do our buying for the boutique. During a trunk show you will get to see the very latest designs along side styles that we wouldn’t normally stock. Styles that are a little more unique, daring or fashion forward. So, if you are looking for something a little different, then this is your time to visit.

We are appointments only. Each private 1-2-1 appointment lasts an hour

Please ensure your parent or guardian books and attends the appointment

Bring the person whose opinion you value most to the appointment (Mum/Nan/Dad/Bestie)

Have an honest discussion with the purchaser of your prom dress about budget. At City Prom our dresses range from £399-£1100. We have a dress for every budget, however it’s not advisable to try dresses out of your price point, it only leads to disappointment.

Unlike the other school holiday periods (February & May), we do not charge an appointment fee during the October half term break.

These sample dresses are only in store for two weeks, so be prepared to say yes to the dress, as it may not be in store again, for a second try on.

The Ballgown Prom Dress Style

The ballgown silhouette is timeless. Suited to all body types it is extremely versatile and continues to be loved by prom girls everywhere. For girls who dreamed of being Cinderella when they were little, the traditional princess dress is often the only silhouette to be considered.

It may seem early, but the new season prom dresses are already in store. City Prom is full of all sorts of dresses in a huge variety of sizes, so if you’re an early bird or just like to be organised get down to see us in the coming weekends. The busy prom season is from January to February, after over ten years in business we still don’t know why families leave it till after Christmas to join the masses scrambling for appointments come the new year. Here are a couple of facts we’d like to share.

New Season 2022 dresses are already in stock at City Prom.
If you’d prefer to order a new season dress it may take as long as 20 weeks to arrive.
Surely you want to be ahead of the gang to bag the best dress.
We still have a great sale rail with some dresses at only £99.
We also have many past season dresses at under £300.
If you can’t decide, there will be time for a revisit.
Any purchases made now will get access to our recommended seamstress (She’s great so gets booked up during the prom and bridal season).

Here at City Prom, we are only human but as prom customers generally only shop after school and weekends, there are only so many appointment slots available. Unfortunately we often must turn enquiries away, even getting to the phone on a Saturday in January is a struggle. We want our Cardiff prom customers to have the best choice so come and visit us now and avoid the rush.
